Underground Iron Removal

Matala filter media are a good pre filtration system for the removal of iron from aerated groundwater. Up to 20mg/l of iron, the removal goes from 40% with cleaned filters to over 90%, when the pressure has build up, even with filtration rate of 10m/h. Using air and water, the filters can be cleaned efficeintly.
For the treatment of water containing high levles or iron, e.g. backwash water from sand filters, two Matala filter systems(DeFe-5T) in series proved to remove most of the iron enabling the resue of the filtrate and increasing the overall recovery of water
